Who
are we?
|
Gerald
Hughes, ChT, Director and Founder of the Neuro-Linguistic Learning
Center, spent most
of
his scholastic
life
struggling with the effects of Dyslexia and ADD.
While he excelled in
Math and science, his grades in Language Arts, History and most other
subjects
suffered terribly due to his ongoing difficulties with reading and
writing as
well as his classroom struggles with focus and concentration. By his
Junior
year, he had virtually given up on academics.
A
decade passed before Gerald decided to tackle
college. He majored in communications and computer science. As someone
who was
always interested in helping others, Gerald created his first
professional coaching
program in 1994. And in 2004, he began helping children with various
learning
challenges.

“My
journey
towards helping others began with my own
struggles with the effects of Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Disorder. It
continued when I became a parent. I began to recognize my own struggles
in my children, one of whom
struggled with the effects of Dyslexia and two who struggled with
ADD.”
“Like
many other parents of children with
learning challenges, I investigated many of the so-called treatments
available
and I tried several with limited success. What
I came to realize was that many
well-meaning therapists, counselors and tutors simply did not
understand the
complexities of these learning challenges.”

in El Dorado County. Judy had lost her voice due to a hereditary
