My Child's failing but I know he's intelligent. What can I do?
Many students find themselves struggling in school largely because their needs are simply not being addressed. Unfortunately, due to their unique needs and learning strategies, most schools, tutors and learning centers are not equipped to appropriately engage these intelligent, active children.
The Neuro-Linguistic Learning Center offers tutoring and learning programs specifically designed to meet the needs of those children and adults who do not fit into the typical educational paradigm. By uncovering the child's natural learning style and utilizing powerful learning strategies, NLC programs help the child regain their confidence and take control of their education.
My child is struggling. Will tutoring help?
The NLC offers tutoring as well as advanced learning programs. If a child has recently fallen behind for one reason or another, i.e., illness, change of school or new curriculum, then tutoring may be the appropriate solution.
However, if the student's struggles span two or more distinct areas of learning or if the problem has persisted for more than 6 months or if the student has already received help for the problem, then tutoring (or additional tutoring) is probably not the answer and will not yield a satisfactory result.
Our philosophy is that tutoring should not become a way of life. When a student comes to the NLC, our goal is to address the underlying issue and give the student the skills they need to succeed so that tutoring is no longer necessary.
We've tried tutoring. It helped for a while but 6 months later we were struggling again. What happened?
Try to think of effective learning as a process for storing and recalling information. There are two distinct components: the information and the process. Effective tutoring can address specific gaps in a student's education and thus demonstrate significant if only temporary improvement.
However, if the process for storing and recalling that information ineffective or not functioning properly, then any benefits from tutoring will be short-lived. The NLC specializes is providing individuals with powerful and effective learning strategies so that the process of storing and recalling information can be fast, easy and even fun.
Does my child need a phonics program?
The primary intervention for many reading problems is some type of phonics program, LindaMood-Bell, Orton-Gillingham, etc.. While many children, particularly those under 7years old, will show some benefit from these programs, research shows that some children may not receive significant benefit from phonics programs alone.
While the NLC Programs do address phonics deficiencies when needed, our experience has shown that the specific learning challenges associated with Dyslexia and ADD require specific interventions well beyond the scope of most phonics programs.
We spent $7,000 at another learning center with no results. How are NLC programs different from the others?
The primary difference between NLC programs and other tutoring or learning programs is that NLC programs are specifically designed to change the way children and adults process information to help them overcome the unique learning challenges associated with Dyslexia, ADD and other learning challenges.
Our Learning Specialists are specifically trained to recognize and strengthen your child's natural abilities, overcome their limitations, and give them the skills they need to achieve effective learning in any environment.
How can I be sure that the NLC is right for my child?
As a parent, you and you alone are responsible for the care and education of your child. At the Neuro-Linguistic Learning Center, we pride ourselves on educating our parents as well as our children. As an educated parent, you are in the best position to get your child the appropriate assistance to help them succeed in the classroom and in life.
The NLC offers free consultations. We will only accept a client if we determine that specific and measurable improvements can be reasonably expected. Once a client is accepted into an NLC program, positive results are guaranteed.
